Miss Carroll’s Foldover Yeast Rolls
Miss Carroll has baked these Foldover Yeast Rolls for more than 45 years with 100% success. The dough mixing uses one bowl with simple ingredients. Once baked, the rolls are light, flaky and buttery.
They are best served warm right out of the oven.

Servings: Makes 18-24 rolls

- Biscuit cutter
- Sheet pan
- Parchment paper
Foldover Yeast Rolls Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 ½ tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet of yeast
- ½ cup Crisco shortening
- 1 egg
- ½ cup warm water
Foldover Yeast Rolls Directions
- Mix all ingredients together until well-combined.
- Cover bowl with a kitchen towel and let rise for about 1 ½ hours or until doubled in size.
- On a floured surface, roll or pat out dough to about ¾ inch thickness.
- Spread about 4 tablespoons of melted butter over the surface.
- Using a biscuit cutter, cut the dough in rounds and fold in half.
- Place on baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Let rise for about 20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or lightly golden.
- Brush melted butter over tops of baked rolls.
- Serve warm.
